This time of year we all sit down and plan what we are going to change, renew and improve in the coming year. A New Year's resolution is a commitment that a person makes to one or more lasting goals. I have several this year. Spending more time with family and friends. On Christmas this year we lost a friend to a car accident. Life is so precious. I am going to make plans to meet up with friends.Family too! Work shouldn't always come first.
Fit in fitness. The evidence is in for fitness. Regular exercise has been associated with more health benefits than anything else known to man. Plus you look and feel better. Enjoy life more. Given the hectic, stressful lifestyles of all of us we need to smell the roses along the way. Try something new, or take up a hobby.
Help others. There are many nonprofit volunteer organizations that could really use your help. How about listening to your heart and your inner being. now there's a concept. I know we could all help the less fortunate, widows etc. That is our job. I hope I have given you something to think about.
May you have a Happy and Blessed New Year!

Did everyone have a wonderful Christmas this year? We all had an excellent Christmas, and received lots of great gifts. Plus saw our Gradsons baptized. What else could you ask for?
Landen is drawing and painting his own creations while spending time with us. How I cherish these moments. All is well with my soul.

Kim's Christmas Gathering

Yesterday we went to Louisville for our Christmas get together. On the way up we encountered snow flakes and rain mixed. I was thinking to myself, what is this evening going to bring? Well the snow showers stopped, and there was barely a drizzle on the way home. It was a full day of fun. Card games, discussions, good eats and fellowship. Thanks Kim, for hosting a wonderful holiday gathering.

Our Christmas was complete when the boys were baptized Sunday.

Celebrating Holidays everyday is what life is all about! And the best part is to be always around friends and family.
Above are some pictures of our adventures during the holidays.

Today I took Landen to see the Adventures of Tintin. Quite an animated movie! Tintin is on the trail of a big story which leads him into a world of high adventure. When he and his friends find the directions to a sunken ship, they go off to find the treasure it contained and Tintin must face the notorious Red Rackham. Landen and I can hardley wait for adventure number two.

Beat The Holiday Blues

'Tis the season to be jolly. But unfortunately for many, the holiday season is the opposite, bringing strong feelings of loneliness, isolation, and even depression. Maybe you are dwelling too much on yourself! This is the season that Christ was born, and we all need to give thanks and praise Him for what he has done for us. What has he done? He gave us life and we who are saved will share eternity with Him.

The holidays can be stressful due to financial problems, because people tend to spend too much money on presents. Now who's fault is that?  There are plenty of homemade alternatives that show you care just as much as their store bought counterparts.

Remember in all of this "That Jesus is the reason for the season".

Enjoy The Health Benefits Of Cinnamon

Most people tend to associate cinnamon with holiday foods such as pumpkin pie or eggnog. It truly is used all year long in a wide variety of foods and dishes. It contains many vitamins and minerals and therefore comes with a great deal of health benifits, ranging from being an all natural anti inflammatory  to being able to assist with lowering blood sugar levels.

True cinnamon has a more delicate taste than most cinnamon which is sold today. The most popular variety being sold today is know as Chinese Cinnamon. It figures. Everything comes from China.

The next time you stop to enjoy your cinnamon based treats and foods, you can do so knowing that you can literally have your treat and eat it (and enjoy it).

Beekeeper's Jitters

My daily tasks are solved through my deep thoughts as I am on the treadmill. It is a therapy all in its own. It also helps with high stress levels which come this time of year. Winter is marching toward us at a brisk pace. I went outside yesterday to check out my bees at the hives. As you can see from the pictures they are active. They are such amazing creatures. They ask only to be left alone and give wealth back to us. If you are interested in BEES go to the sight, vanishing bees.com this will give you a hint of what is going on with the bee population and how you help.

Ok, I put a wreath on our front door. I love this wreath, because it plays Chirstmas carols when you open and shut the door. I have begun staging candles in the windows. Lights are around the door. My snowmen are up and lit. A small but cute Christmas tree adorns the entryway. I have my Santa Claus official blog site and I check it everyday. It provides a personal countdown to the big day, filling you in on the trials and tribulations associated with delivering presents to every child in the world- all on one night. The site includes a place to upload your Santa sightings and a Santa tracker to see when he'll be heading in your direction, as well as updates from the elves themselves. What more could you want?
On the other hand Barack Obams hates Christmas, the whole Christmas season. He won't let you sing any carols, except for the one that includes"gay apparel" Christmas break? Unheard of. Christmas pageants? Nowhere in sight. There is no White House Christmas Tree. There is the White House Generic Seasonal Pine. At recess, a few daring believers sneak into the Christmas Closet, where they hang tinsel and sing" O Little Town of Bethlehem." Not only that, but our kids can't pray in schools! No wonder we are doing so badly on standarized tests- unassisted by institutionalized prayer, what hope do we have? Other nations are vastly outpacing us in Reading Comprehension, Critical Thinking, and the all important category of Ability to Accept Jesus as Your Lord and Savior.
Faith has made America strong. It's time to put it back when it belongs, in the classroom.

Portugal
There is a saying that epitomizes the dangers of surrendering too much of your independence:"Those who giveth can also taketh away." With that in mind, it should come as no surprise that in Portugal- and, most likely, a number of other nations in the months and years to come- state- provided pension funds are no longer safe from the government's all-powerful reach.
As the country continues to drown in a sea of red ink caused by generations of politicians pandering to generations of over-demanding citizens punch-drunk from to many trips to the public winery, the Portugal Cabinet agreed this week to transfer the assets from four of the country's biggest banks to the government treasury, in order to "bridge"a yawning budget gap that threatens to bankrupt the nation.
As bad as it sounds for Portugal and raiding the retirement funds of millions of Portuguese is bad, that coundn't happen in the U.S., right?
But it has already happened. Do you remember last summer when lawmakers were haggling over whether or not to raise the debt ceiling? While lawmakers dithered over how much more hock to put the country into, the Obama administration authorized the Treasury in May to "tap federal retiree programs to help fund operations." A news search for stories reporting that Treasury had paid back those funds found nothing, by the way.

Don't Tell

I am working on David to agree to having a few chickens in the backyard. Chickens make me smile. Not only that, but they supply you with eggs, fertilize your garden and give you pleasure like vegetable gardening. Tending a chicken flock can produce the freshest, tastiest food available, and gets you outdoors and in motion. 1+2 + 3 + 4= CHICKENS
Wish me luck!
