Odd Eggs, Double Yolks, No Yolks, etc.
Our hens have just started laying, and they are trying to figure it out. Sometimes when I go in the hen house there is an egg on the floor. Double yolk eggs appear when ovulation occurs too rapidly, or when one yolk somehow gets lost and is the next yolk. Every once in a while we get an egg with a membrance, but without a shell. It feels like a water baloon and is another accident of the hen's reproductive system. All in all my hens are laying about 17 eggs a day. I am thrilled with this, as now I have customers who are wanting my fresh eggs. I love my hens!
