Broody Hen In The Winter
Bessie is setting! Monday she started her 21 days of setting on a clutch of eggs. Bessie loves being a mother, and she is good at it. The problem is; its November 26th. I do have a warm hen house, but not tropical. I don't know, the chicks take at least 5-6 weeks to fully feather. And with severe temperatures right around the corner I fear for their lives. Some broody hens will not eat, or get water. And in cold temps, this does not bode well for survival. What should I do? To set or not to set. That is the question. Happy Thanksgiving Everyone!
