I have been looking in my catalogs and have found out that the yellow split pea belong to the same family as lentils and are highly nutritious - high in both protein and fiber. A half cup serving of cooked split peas provides 110 calories, and 10 grams of protein. Most veggies are low in protein, so peas make an excellent source of protein for everyone. So make sure when you are ordering your seeds, to put down a packet of  yellow peas.
