Pumpkin

  • Vegetables. The best way to carry your tomato plants over to the fall season is by taking six-inch cuttings from the top of the plants. Rinse them thoroughly to dislodge unwanted pests, pot in a 1-gallon pot, and keep in bright shade. Gradually move it into sunnier areas. You can replant these around the end of the month. Dispose of the mother plants.
As crazy as it sounds, you can set out transplants for fall crops of peppers, eggplants, and tomatoes. Provide afternoon shade. Toward the end of the month, you can start planting beans, cantaloupe, corn, cucumbers, cauliflower and squash for a fall crop.
