Dishing It Up One Day At A Time

This morning I went to Dishman McGinnis School. My daughter teaches there, and I was giving a talk on care giving and sharing books with my seniors that the class had been involved in making.

Ms. Johnson has been talking about how important it is to share what you are learning with your family members. And I too have been sharing the books that these third, fourth and fifth graders have had a part in making.

I must say, these boys and girls were well behaved and listened attentively.

From The Desk Of A Worker Bee

Beecause it is Saturday and raining outside, not to mention cold. I am sitting on the computer blogging. I would much rather be outside working in my plant beds, or enjoying the sunshine, which there is not a peep of. Landen is with us for the weekend.

Want to mention our Butterfly houses are back by popular demand. Butterflies do not speak languages of men. They sing in sweetest tone with words so beautiful, grown up ears cannot hear them. Only children notice when they call.

Let us know color and size so we can start to get yours ready for the Butterfly season.

Kitchen Cabinet Update

There are many ways to rejuvenate your kitchen cupboards. We are having ours painted. Since our floors are so dark, these cupboards just were not working. We decided on the color white oaks. I had taken a picture of the cabinets before and after and unfortunately the before picture has disappeared. I do have a picture that I took of the outline which will give you some idea of the color of the cabinet faces. I think it opens up the space and makes it lighter and brighter. What do you think?

First Honey Bee Sighting

I was going out this morning to check my trees, and just look at the new growth of every plant, when I heard this humming. Where is it coming from? My peach tree! There is this precious tiny honey bee going from flower to flower. Can you see her? I just wanted to give her a hug. I will let her carry on and do what she does best. Collecting pollen. Can't wait till April 30th. It's just so-ooo exciting.

Check Up Time
I am taking Landen today for his six month check up. Landen is maintaining good oral hygiene, but says that two crowns are bothering him. Come to find out under the right crown is abscessed. Yikes! He has to have a prescription called in, and another appointment to pull the tooth, and have a spacer put in until the permanent tooth comes in. Also he has a cavity in his molar. Not too good of a report, but I guess it could have been worse.
Bringing children in on a regular basis not only makes it easier to catch tooth decay in its early stages, but also helps kids view going to the dentist as a normal activity that they have no reason to be afraid of.
Pediatric dentist are trained and qualified to provide growing children the special attention vital to each stage of a child's oral care.

Spring Arrives March 20th

The traditional season of rebirth and renewal. Spring comes in between the 19th to the 23rd of March and at different times. It changes on a yearly basis, because the first official day of Spring is the (Spring) Vernal Equinox. This is when the sun is directly above the equator. It rises due east and sets due west and does not do so on the exact same day every year; this is because the calendar is not exactly 365 precise days of every single year. Happy Spring.

By the end of March, my patience with cold weather has worn pretty thin. My reaction to wind and chill starts to be irritation. What? Still cold? Thats ridiculous! It just better warm up by the end of March.

'Hands To Work, Hearts To God'
From: Shaker Wisdom
Nothing feels right at the moment, with incomprehensible news from Japan, but it seems warm enough this afternoon to check out the perimeter of my backyard.
I am feeling urgent, though the mud says wait, I am there with my clippers and onion hoe ready to approach the beds and borders.
I have started to propagate grape vines and fig trees. One of my clients that passed away a couple of weeks ago said I could have a hardwood cutting of both. I am praying that these stems will take hold. After all, they came from Greece, and they would be a wonderful reminder of my dear friend and the great times we had together.
