Bee Thinking About

The summer was a busy time for your bees. Now it is October. Enough food? And what is enough? While there are a variety of gadgets to weigh a hive, David lifts mine to see how heavy the hive is. Forty pounds is what I have always heard. That will take them through the winter. Get your entrance reducers on to keep mice out of the hives. Make sure all of your hives have heavy bricks on them to keep winter winds from blowing the covers off. Of course I don't feed or treat my hives so they are on their own. Nature will take care of that. Now I am hoping for a mild winter and seeing those bees buzzing about in early spring.
