Unexpected Gift

My daughter and I have this thing where we exchange gifts, trinkets, mementos etc. when we see something that the other may like, or have an interest in. My friend Shaleen, the one that died on their motorcycle, started me on this wonderful gift giving idea. The gift doesn't have to be expensive, or practical. It's just that you were thinking of them, and thought they may be able to use this item, or maybe it is just something from your heart. This gift was given from the heart.

You bloggers out there know how much I love my bees. Actually anything to do with bees I love. Well Jennifer had this cardboard envelope when I stopped by the other night and said this is for you mom. What could it be? I opened it and low and behold it is a print from Etsy.com. How exciting, a picture of an old time beehive with little bees swarming around the beehive. Isn't it just perfect. I will cherish it always!

Attracting Hummingbirds

One good way to enjoy the company of hummingbirds is planting a hummingbird garden. In addition to providing them a natural diet, a hummer garden is an excellent way to attract birds to your nearby feeder: since hummingbirds feed by sight on regularly-followed routes- called traplining- their inquisitive nature will quickly lead them to investigate any possible new source of food. A hummer garden is also a great way to capture the birds on film or video, and makes a much nicer backdrop for your photos than the typical feeder. If you plan carefully and select a variety of plants that flower at successively later dates, you will be rewarded with happy hummers throughout the season.

Using pesticides around hummingbird plants is a very bad idea. Killing garden pests will also eliminate the small insects hummingbirds rely upon for protein. Since hummers, like most birds, have virtually no sense of smell, the flowers that attract them tend to have little or no fragrance, apparently directing their resources instead toward high visibility and nectar production.

In addition to food sources, convenient perching opportunities will make your yard more hospitable to hummingbirds, since they spend around 80% of their time sitting on, twigs, clotheslines, etc.

In my yard I planted a Butterfly Bush, Morning Glory's, Host as, and Petunias. There are plenty of flowers and plants that the hummer will be attracted to. So go to your nearby garden store and get started.

Fulfilling The Law Of Christ

"Carry each others burdens, and in this way you will fulfill the law of Christ" (Galatians 6:2 ) When we live in peace and unity, it pleases God. When we love and serve others, we are fulfilling the law of Christ, which is to love others.

What does it mean to carry each others burdens? There are many ways to reach out to people and help shoulder their load in life. Just by giving an encouraging word or smile, you can help lighten the load for someone. When you pray and intercede for others in their daily difficulty, you are helping to carry their burdens. Maybe there are other ways to help the people around you. Maybe you can pay for someone's groceries or give someone cash at the gas pump. Anytime you help others and reach out to those in need, scripture says you are directly lending a hand to God Himself.

Today, look for ways to lighten the load for the people around you. Be a burden lifter. Remember, in God's kingdom what you sow, you shall reap. When you help others, God promises to repay you. He'll pour out His victory and blessing upon you all the days of your life!

Sweet Pea Perennial Vines

You have heard me talk about my dear friend who passed away recently. She had grapes which she brought from Greece, and her beautiful Sweet Pea Vines. I wish we could have made grape jelly together. I had promised her that.

Also called everlasting peas, perennial Sweet Peas are herbaceous perennials, meaning the plant dies back to ground level each year when cold weather arrives, and sends up new shoots the next spring. They quickly reach 4 to 10 feet if given suitable support to climb. Sweet Pea flowers come in shades of pink, red, purple and white. I remember as a child we had Sweet Peas in the back yard. My dad kept them in a round fence to keep them contained. They were beautiful and attracted bees. That's a plus for me.

You'll have lots to enjoy as centerpiece bouquets whose delicate winged flowers and deliciously evocative fragrance will bring a smile of pleasure to everyone who walks by them.
It is definately an nostalgic old-fashioned beauty!

Feeling Under The Weather

I just can't seem to shake this, whatever it is? I am wheezing, coughing and feeling like my feet and arms are made of lead. No energy, zapped and crabby. That just about describes how I feel. I know, you don't want to see me. I can't blame you. I started on antibiotics today; so I am hoping for a definite improvement in a few short days.

I went back to Lowe's and bought another adirondack chair. Like most adirondack chairs, a resin adirondack chair is designed with a slanted seat and back so that you can recline and relax. What makes a resin adirondack chair different is that it is made from recycled plastic.

Another bonus of a resin adirondack chair is that recycled plastic is actually tougher than regular plastic, which means it is more resistant against damage caused by rain, snow, sun and other weather. It's also mildew resistant.

If you want an enjoyable outdoor furniture piece that is affordable, durable and low maintenance, this is the chair for you!

I swear I am going to switch to Word Press if Google doesn't get their act together soon.
